Laura was released from the hospital around 10 am with Rxs for nausea and vertigo. We filled them and she is feeling somewhat better, but still a long ways from normal.
We opted to skip the Santa Ana and Atascosa NWRs and beeline it to the Aransas NWR which was the purpose of our trip to start with. We made it in good time and were able to do the big auto tour loop before closing. On the loop, Laura, in spite of her vision issues, managed to spot three whooping cranes flying right past us. So we will not be getting skunked on whooping cranes this trip. We also saw a large family of havalina, several groups of deer and a big old bobcat traipsing along the road ahead of us.
We then hightailed it to Magnolia Beach arriving just before dark, where we are parked within 20 feet of the water, for free mind you.
Tomorrow we will return to the Aransas NWR and enjoy a full day of critter watching and break out the high-end camera gear and hopefully get some decent photos.
Thank you for all your concerns and well wishes for Lauras prompt recovery.
