Good Grief, ID to Silverhorn campground, Banff NP, Alberta

The border crossing was uneventful. They looked at our brand new passports, asked the usual questions, and sent us on our way into Canada. We made it to Lake Louise in no time, but Lake Louise was an absolute mad-house, full to the gills with crazy tourists (unlike us). We did a u-turn and got back on the Icefield Parkway and headed to our destination for the night, the Mosquito Creek Campground, where DR and his dad had stayed a couple of times on a prior adventure. We were disappointed to find the Mosquito Creek Campground completely full of the same crazy tourists that we encountered just a few kilometers down the road at Lake Louise. So, trusting our usual good luck and propensity to distance ourselves from the maddening crowd, we headed farther North. Some distance up the Icefield Parkway we found the Silverhorn Campground. There was a plethora of available spaces at Silverhorn. At Silverhorn Campground there were a several crews working on the campground and it appeared to us to be a brand new or freshly renovated campground. We did more loops than usual looking for just the right space and finally settled on space #2, and settled in for another long sleep.

P.S. The annual Canadian park pass was $116 Canadian, but we were rewarded with our first black bear sighting just inside the park. A sow and her cub.
