The road to Jasper was a familiar one, as we have driven it before. We stopped long enough at the Athabasca Glacier to snap a couple of pictures and DR wanted to roll down the windows and feel the katabatic winds rolling off the glacial ice.
At the Athabasca Falls we switched from the more heavily traveled highway 93, to its less traveled and more scenic alternate highway 93A, which we have driven many times looking for wildlife. Our first choices of campgrounds were either closed or full, so we spent our first night in the Snaring overflow camping area. On our way to the campground we saw our first grizzly bear.

Our intention was to spend time in Jasper doing what in Africa are called game drives. This involves driving out along the backroads for a couple hours early in the morning and late in the evening hoping to find and photograph wild animals. Which we have been doing. At least when we were not sitting in town where we have access to the Internet so that we can post these blogs. Given that we were either driving or sleeping or unable to access the Internet for much of our journey so far, we were quite behind in publishing our blog posts. This blog edition finally catches you up with our adventures so far.
After our first morning game drive, we were able to find a lovely campsite in the Snaring campground vacated by someone moving on.
Here are our photos for that last two days in and around Jasper, mostly game driving the road to Lake Maligne.
Very cool!!!
