Teslin, Yukon to Dawson City, Yukon

We opted to not spend the night in a campground and instead parked in the corner of a highway maintenance sand and gravel storage lot just before the hamlet of Teslin. We went to bed early and we both woke up early and were on the road before 7 am. Just before leaving the lot this deer sauntered by.

First thing this morning we discovered that the chip in our windshield from the rock thrown up by a semi yesterday had developed a couple of cracks in our windshield. They are well below our line-of-sight so we will probably try to make it up to the Arctic Circle and back before doing anything about our windshield, as the 194 mile one-way trip to the Arctic Circle is all dirt road and the windshield is likely to get worse.

Today was a 7.5 hour drive and, as it turned out, the deer this morning was all the wildlife we’d see all day. Laura did get a picture of a bridge over the Yukon River.

If all goes as planned tomorrow, after 20 days and 4,000 miles, we finally reach Alaska.
