Well folks, it happened and we were here to see it. Mission accomplished. The predicted cloud cover completely disappeared in time for the event. It was a truly amazing experience. We observed many of the expected phenomenon including darkness, temperature drop, cold breezes, stars and planets coming out, strange shadows under trees, 360 degree sunset, and confused animals. We definitely took the time to enjoy the first half of totality. DR had trouble centering the eclipse in his camera and wasted too many of his precious seconds and finally gave up with the eclipse off center in the frame. In spite of the framing issues he managed to capture some totality and the second diamond ring. DR is not used to processing and editing video and doing things on our little laptop is soooo slow it will take him a while to get it here on the blog.
DR managed to extract the frame above out of the movie he shot with his big wildlife lens and camera rig. Note the pinkish solar flares at 3 and 5 o’clock.
Below are Laura’s photos.
Love y’all,
DR and Laura
Looking forward to the rest of the photos!
